Nui (For Ruth)
2019
Oil/acrylic on canvas
60 x 48 inches

"Nui" means big, important or many in Hawaiian. This painting is dedicated to Ruth Gates, who invited me to the Gates Lab in Oahu, where she led innovative coral research. She died in 2018.
